A technical highlight for true sound enjoyment
Today we had a very special project in the workshop: a brand-new 2024 Land Rover Defender , in which the customer had the optional 700-watt sound system with the original Meridian amplifier retrofitted directly by Land Rover. However, even though the hardware was now in place, the Meridian Surround function was still deactivated in the software – as is often the case with current Land Rover models.
The customer had already made several attempts to activate the feature through various workshops and even directly through the manufacturer – without success.
Until he came to us.
What was the problem?
After Land Rover installed the original 700-watt amplifier, not a single speaker in the vehicle worked. The sound disappeared completely – because, although the amplifier was installed, it wasn't integrated into the vehicle's software . Basic configurations were missing, including:

Updating the control unit software

Assigning the chassis number to the new amplifier

Activating the audio functions in the vehicle network
Without these steps, the amplifier remains virtually “invisible” to the vehicle – and therefore produces no sound.
Our solution
We first performed a complete software update on the newly installed amplifier. Then we manually entered the correct vehicle identification number (VIN) into the device—a step that is absolutely necessary for the amplifier to be correctly registered in the vehicle's network.
Only then did sound come out of the speakers again – but we went one step further:
✅ Meridian Surround Sound correctly unlocked
✅ Sound profiles fully loaded
✅ No botched work, no intermediate modules – everything OEM compliant
The result: a clearly noticeable difference in sound and a surround sound at a premium level.
The customer wasn't just satisfied—he was overjoyed. Finally, his sound system was exactly what he had imagined when he purchased the amplifier.
