Installation tips for universal tuning catalysts
- The mixture preparation, lambda control, and ignition system must be checked for proper function. Spark plugs, wiring connections, etc., must be replaced if necessary.
- It's important to use a suitable universal catalytic converter. The selection of the universal catalytic converter depends on the engine displacement, power output, and emissions standard.
- The installation direction of the catalyst (exhaust gas flow direction = reading direction of the E-555…./E-111…. number on the outer casing of the catalyst) must be observed
- Make sure that the universal catalytic converter is installed in the same place as the original catalytic converter.
- If the universal catalytic converter is shorter than the original catalytic converter, the inlet position must be maintained and the missing part must be replaced with a piece of pipe.
- The original positions of the lambda sensors must be retained.
- All welded joints must be 100% gas-tight.
- If the original catalytic converter has heat protection devices, the tuning catalytic converter must also have corresponding protection devices.
- We recommend replacing all clamps and seals between the catalytic converter, turbocharger/engine and exhaust system.
- The entire exhaust system must be aligned without stress.
- Tighten all connecting elements using a torque wrench according to the vehicle manufacturer's instructions so that the system cannot twist and all connections are gas-tight.
- After installation, start the engine and check the exhaust system for leaks.
- It is recommended to check the exhaust system for leaks again after a short period of operation and to retighten all fastenings.
